The longtime sheriff of Marinette County is stepping down.
Jerry Sauve announced Tuesday that he will not seek a fourth term in office. Sauve has served three terms as sheriff there, and has worked for 38 years in the department altogether. His term expires next January 2nd, and Sauve says he’s announcing now so that other people can plan to run for the job this fall.
Sauve says it has been an honor to serve as Marinette sheriff, but the timing is right as he will turn 64 years old this summer.
