The number of new coronavirus cases continues to fall in Michigan.
The Michigan Department of Health and Human Services reported 5,931 new cases on Wednesday, which covers the last five days combined. It’s an average of roughly 12-hundred cases per day, well down from January peaks.
There were 62 new COVID deaths reported over those five days.
State officials also went through old death certificates and matched them to previous positive test results. They added 252 more deaths to the state total.
Here in the Upper Peninsula, ten new COVID deaths were reported over the past five days: two each in Delta and Marquette Counties, and one each in Dickinson, Gogebic, Iron, Keweenaw, Menominee and Ontonagon Counties.
There were 205 new cases reported in the U.P., an average of 41 per day.
