The number of new coronavirus cases continues to plummet in Michigan.
The Michigan Department of Health and Human Services reported 1,842 new cases on Friday, which covers both Thursday and Friday. That’s less than 1,000 new cases per day, a fraction of what was being reported in January.
There were 14 new COVID deaths reported over those five days.
State officials also went through old death certificates and matched them to previous positive test results. They added 54 more deaths to the state total.
Here in the Upper Peninsula, there was one new death reported, in Gogebic County. There were 70 new positive tests reported in the U.P. over the last two days.
