Trillium House, the eight-room support facility serving individuals receiving hospice and respite care in the Central U.P., continues its efforts to prepare for re-opening following a facility-wide flooding due to a sprinkler system malfunction. The organization, located in Marquette, Michigan, has also begun a search for a new executive director.
Five residents along with staff and caregivers were at the facility when flooding occurred the day before Thanksgiving. Staff immediately responded and were able to safely evacuate and transport all residents to alternative living arrangements. Trillium continues to support staff during the temporary building closure.
“At this time, we are continuing our due diligence to work with inspectors and the insurance companies to complete the necessary steps to ensure that everything is properly repaired. In the meantime, we have begun the process of finding an executive director,” said Roger Bentlage, Trillium House Vice President. “We are looking forward to re-opening and continuing our commitment to providing excellent support to the community.”
Since the flooding, Trillium has been working closely with a number of local service providers. “We could not be more grateful for the outstanding service we’ve received from Closner, ServPro and VAST,” said Bentlage. “They were there immediately following the flooding to ensure that we had whatever support we needed and continue to help us throughout this process.”
“We value the support Trillium has provided to the community and are happy to help them complete the necessary repairs so that they can continue to serve individuals and families in need,” said Jeff Goodney, President, Closner Construction.
Completion of reconstruction is anticipated by mid-June. Donations are encouraged to help cover the significant re-opening expenses not covered by insurance. Trillium hopes to fill the executive director position by June and looks forward to accepting residents later that month. The application deadline for the executive director position is April 15th.
