Hiawatha National Forest issued a prospectus to solicit qualified applicants who have or can acquire all necessary facilities and services to provide water ferrying services for the Grand Island National Recreation Area (GINRA). With the deadline of July 14th approaching, interespted parties are encouraged to prepare and submit their applications.
The prospectus is being advertised on SAM.gov: Link. The required services for which proposals are being sought are:
- Providing passenger ferrying services from the mainland near Munising, Michigan, to Williams Landing on GINRA. A 36-foot government owned pontoon boat is required to be utilized by the applicant.
- Providing vehicular transport services (including passenger vehicles, heavy construction equipment, and utility vehicles) to and from GINRA. A government owned 94.5 gross tons barge will be required for use by the applicant.
- Collecting recreation use fees from people accessing Grand Island via passenger ferry, including accounting and reporting fees.

Prospective applicants are advised to read the prospectus carefully. Application package requirements as well as instructions for submitting applications can be found in section IV, page 13. Applications submitted in response to this prospectus are subject to cost recovery pursuant to 36 CFR 251.58 (c)(l)(ii) and (c)(3)(iii). Applicants must submit a processing fee of $100.00 to cover cost of the prospectus and application package review. A separate payment of $300 is required for the Small Business Development Center review fee.
