The first grant will support creating a “Hidden in Plain Sight (HIPS)” mock teen bedroom. This bedroom will be showcased at different community events for parents in the community to tour, in order to recognize “hidden” for signs of that could indicate potential drug and alcohol use among teens. The second grant that was awarded will allow us to host and purchase workbooks for the “Question, Persuade, Refer (QPR)” suicide prevention trainings in conjunction with the Suicide Prevention Network and Communities that Care organizations.
We also received funding to create a marijuana and pregnancy educational campaign in collaboration with the Menominee County Great Start Collaborative, as well as host a vaping prevention gameshow through the “PEERS Foundation” agency for middle school students in Menominee County this spring.
The Healthy Youth Coalition would like to again thank the Hannahville Indian Community for their generous support of our projects and programs! For more information about the coalition please contact Karianne Lesperance at 906-863-5665 ext.1038 or klesperance@mc-isd.org.
