The number of new coronavirus cases continues to decline in Michigan.
The Michigan Department of Health and Human Services reported 1,540 new cases on Wednesday, which covers both Tuesday and Wednesday. That’s less than 800 new cases per day, a fraction of what was being reported in January.
There were 11 new COVID deaths reported over those two days.
State officials also went through old death certificates and matched them to previous positive test results. They added 107 more deaths to the state total.
Here in the Upper Peninsula, there were two new deaths reported: one each in Chippewa and Dickinson Counties. The health department did not say it the deaths were from checking old death certificates or if they were current.
There were 44 new positive test results over the past two days across the 15 Upper Peninsula counties.
