The Alger County Clerk Tuesday night posted the county’s unofficial election results.
Republican candidates outpaced Democratic candidates in the statewide races, from the governor down to the state house and senate races. Republican Tudor Dixon, for example, won the county over Democrat Governor Gretchen Whitmer, 52-to-45 percent, although Whitmer won the state election.
Congressman Jack Bergman and State Senator Ed McBroom, both Republicans, carried Alger County.
In the state house race, Republican Melody Wagner won Alger County by nearly 600 votes, but Democrat Jenn Hill won the seat that’s being vacated by term-limited Democrat Sara Cambensy.
Republicans won four of the five seats on the Alger County Board of Commisoners.
There were four people running for two seats on the Munising City Commission: Vicki Ballas and Christine Berry won those two seats. Five people were running for three seats on the Munising School Board: Jason Brisson, Greg Pond, and Jenna Cole won those board seats. In the Superior Central School District, eight people were running for four available seats. Lyle Rutter, Ben Bartlett, Matt Rondeau, and Nicole Aho all won four-year terms.
