The Bay-Lakes Council, Boy Scouts of America is completing the 35th Annual Scouting for Food Drive this weekend. Scouts in Escanaba, Gladstone, Gwinn, Negaunee and Marquette have placed informational door hangers in select areas and are urging those that received them to place non-expired, non-perishable food items. In a plastic bag and place it on their porch by 8am on Saturday, April 22nd and Scouts will come back to the areas where they dropped off the door hangers to collect any donations on the morning of April 22nd.
If you are in the Marquette area and you didn’t receive a door hanger, please bring any food donations to Super One in Marquette and place them in the collection bin by Monday, April 24th. All donations will go to food pantries selected by the local Cub Scout Packs and Scouts BSA Troops participating.
Gladstone Cub Scouts will also be at Pat’s Foods in Gladstone on Saturday, April 22nd from 1-6pm collecting non-perishable food items for the local food pantry.
If you are in other areas of the Upper Peninsula, the Scouts urge you to support your local food panties and make donations to them in the name of our Scouting for Food Drive.
Thousands of neighbors in need of support will benefit from the incredible generosity of our community members!
Scouting for Food is a great example of the Scouts, parents, and leaders working together to make a positive impact in our communities. Service to others is the heart and soul of the program. Every pound of food donated helps feed the one in seven people who go to bed hungry in our area.
The Hiawathaland District of the Bay-Lakes Council, Boy Scouts of America serves more than 900 youth in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula. The Council, supported by over 300 volunteers, is headquartered in Appleton, WI.
