On Monday, April 24th, members of the administrative team were made aware of an alleged statement regarding a potential threat to the Bark River-Harris Schools. Following school protocols, members of the administrative team interviewed students, conducted a search of the backpack and locker of the student who allegedly made the threat, and contacted the Menominee County Sheriff’s Department and the student’s parents.
At the conclusion of these steps, members of the administrative team concluded that there was no viable threat to the students and staff of BR-H.
Throughout the evening of April 24th, parents and community members reached out to members of the BR-H administrative team seeking additional information and indicating that they still had concerns. In an abundance of caution, contact was made with the Menominee County Sheriff’s Department to have deputies on-sight throughout the day of April 25th.
Representatives from the Menominee County Sheriff’s Department and members of the BR-H administrative team collectively met with additional students and parents during the morning of April 25th. At the conclusion of these interviews, the determination was made that there was no credible threat made toward the BR-H school community. The safety and security of our students and staff remains our top priority.
Any statement that implicates a safety concern is thoroughly investigated following school policy and in conjunction with members of local law enforcement. Bark River-Harris greatly appreciates the partnership we have with law enforcement and the deputies that assisted us today.
