Two Upper Peninsula Meijer retailers coincidentally voted to support the same nonprofit organization, the Upper Peninsula Honor Flight, as part of the “Meijer Team Gives” campaign.
The Escanaba and Marquette teams donated $5,000 each to Honor Flight, and Marquette Store Director John Spaulding tells the Radio Results Network that neither store knew that the other had voted to support the same organization.
“It was quite a surprise to get this donation from two different stores, and we feel very fortunate and blessed,” said Scott Knauf, president of the U.P. Honor Flight said. “It means we have an impact across the Upper Peninsula and specifically that we’ve touched lives in these two communities.”
Meijer Team Gives is a program that empowers each store and distribution facility to donate to one nonprofit in their community. Team members at each location work together to identify the local nonprofits meaningful to them and the communities they serve. The Escanaba and Marquette store teams both chose the same nonprofit based on votes from their team members looking to make an impact in their community.
