The Michigan Commission on Services to the Aging has cancelled a listening session and its regular business meeting that was scheduled for Friday, May 20, at the Chippewa Luce Mackinac Community Action Agency, 207 Newberry Ave., in Newberry.
The commission regrets any inconvenience.
Dates and details for other listening sessions will be announced at later dates in Bad Axe, Rochester and Manistee – as well as for a rescheduled meeting in Luce County in 2023. The commission earlier made visits to Grand Rapids and Lansing.
The next regular meeting of the Commission on Services to the Aging will be 9 a.m., Friday, June 17 in Bad Axe. The listening session will take place at 1 p.m. The location will be determined later this month.
The commission, a 15-member governor-appointed body, advises the governor, Legislature and the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services (MDHHS) on matters relating to policies and programs for older adults in Michigan.
Each year the Commission on Services to the Aging hosts listening sessions in different areas of the state to give older adults the opportunity to share feedback about issues impacting their lives.
“MDHHS and the commission are dedicated to helping older adults live in the setting of their choice for as long as possible while complementing the care provided by their family and friends. It’s critical to hear what types of services older adults and their loved ones believe are important to them,” said Scott Wamsley, director of the MDHHS Bureau of Aging, Community Living and Supports.
