A car plowed into a fire hydrant in Marquette Township on Monday, knocking out service to customers in the area for hours.
Marquette County Sheriffs Deputies say the crash happened at about 6:00 in the morning on Wright Street near Forestville Road, west of the city. The driver was a 45-year-old man from downstatew Lansing, and there was “signifcant damage” done to both his car and the fire hydrant. The unidentified driver was taken by ambluance to UP Health System-Marquette for treatment.
Deputies also suspect that alcohol was a factor in the crash, so the man was ultimately arrested and was losged in the Marquette County Jail.
