Partridge Creek Farm (PCF) in Partnership with Ishpeming Middle School, Marquette Food Co-op, and MARESA help host student farm stand through the Farm to School Program.
Since 2020, Partridge Creek Farm’s cornerstone Farm-to-School program has also grown significantly– providing weekly, year-round nutrition, cooking, and gardening education to 5th and 6th graders. 88% of their students report trying a new vegetable and 70% report liking a vegetable that they previously disliked.
October is National Farm to School Month. Ishpeming Middle Schoolers and Partridge Creek Farm are celebrating.
Partridge Creek Farm is holding a Farm to School Month Fundraiser from Oct 11.-Oct.31 to continue to bring Farm to School Programming to Ishpeming Schools.
On October 11th 2023, from 1pm-2:30pm Ishpeming Middle School 5th graders will be selling produce from their Middle School Garden (Location: Corner of Cleveland and 3rd Street in Ishpeming) at their student Farm stands. Produce for the farm stand is being harvested from Partridge Creek Farm gardens. Students will then create a business plan for their farm stand. This years farm stand sponsor is UPPCO. Funds raised during this event will be used by the students to vote on something to purchase for their Middle School Garden.
On October 12th 2023, beginning at 9am at Birchview Elementary School in the Garden Lot Birchview 5th graders have organized fun activities to celebrate Apple Crunch Day. 5th grade students are leading Apple Crunch day activities and at 2:45 in the Birchview gym the entire school will all crunch into an apple at the same time.
