A two-story apartment building was damaged by fire Monday afternoon in Manistique.
Manistique Public Safety says the call came in at 1:49 in the afternoon to come to 644 Garden Avenue. When crews arrived eleven minutes later, they saw heavy smoke and flames coming from the second floor of the building.
Firefighters were able to eventually put out the flames, but the second floor apartment suffered heavy smoke and heat damage. The lower level apartment was spared severe damage, but there was some water damage done. There was no one home at the time, so there were no injuries reported.
Public Safety says they have identified the place of origin for the fire, but the actual cause is still undetermined. Crews were on the scene for about 90 minutes.
