Cloverland Cares, the non-profit foundation of Cloverland Electric Cooperative, is pleased to announce its spring 2022 scholarship recipients. Applicants were evaluated based on an essay, financial need, school involvement, community service and work experience, educational and career goals plus supporting letters of recommendation.
“Cloverland has awarded scholarships to members for nearly two decades,” said Cloverland Electric’s President and CEO, Mike Heise. “With the Cloverland Cares scholarship, we’re emphasizing utility tech programs to support many career paths like we have at the cooperative along with schools in our EUP service territory.”
Cloverland Cares scholarships are available to high school seniors or those returning to school to complete a degree or change careers. Eligible schools include Lake Superior State University, Bay Mills Community College, Les Cheneaux Culinary School, Great Lakes Boat Building School and utility tech programs offered at Alpena Community College, Lansing Community College and Northern Michigan University.
“We’re pleased to double the number of scholarship award recipients this year for a one-time $2,000 scholarship,” said Allie Brawley, Cloverland Electric’s Director of Business Development & Communications who serves as Cloverland Cares Board President. “We appreciate all members who support Cloverland Cares to benefit scholarships and E.U.P. food banks and hope to continue expanding this program.”

- Elizabeth Storey, Lake Superior State University – pre-medicine
Cloverland Cares divides funding equitably among Cloverland’s three districts. Since there were no scholarship applications from district C this year, the award dollars will be balanced out through a food bank grant award in district C and additional considerations for the fall grant cycle (deadline: September 30).
