The “Healthy Youth Coalition (HYC) of Marinette & Menominee Counties” was recently awarded $50,000 from the Provident Health Foundation Spring grant cycle to help assist with our alcohol and other drug prevention projects and events in the schools and community.
Provident Health Foundation also granted “Communities that Care (CTC) of Marinette & Menominee Counties” $25,000 to enhance federal grant prevention strategies, administer a biennial youth survey, and cover the fees of Continuing Education Units (CEU’s) for an educational series in partnership with Libertas.
Currently, HYC is not eligible to receive any state or federal funding, and completely relies on local and community financial support to continue their youth subgroup efforts in the twelve local school districts between Marinette and Menominee Counties. Provident Health Foundation has been a huge champion in helping HYC not only continue their prevention work, but also expand in membership and involvement in the districts with these grant opportunities.
We are very thankful to Provident for providing these generous grant awards to continue efforts on substance use prevention education within our community for our youth and their families. Both prevention coalitions are located at the Menominee County Intermediate School District (MCISD) in the prevention department, as the MCISD serves as the fiscal agent to CTC and HYC.
