Michigan Lottery players have purchased nearly 4.7 million tickets at retailers for tonight’s world-record $1.9 billion Powerball drawing. Since noon, players have been buying, on average, about 500,000 tickets at retailers per hour.
If a lucky player wins the $1.9 billion jackpot, it will be the largest Lottery jackpot ever won. The current world record jackpot is $1.586 billion. That Powerball jackpot was won on Jan. 13, 2016 and was split by three winning tickets purchased in California, Florida, and Tennessee.
Tonight’s drawing will be the 41st drawing since the jackpot was last won on Aug. 3, tying a record for the longest jackpot run in Powerball history.
