After 34.5 years of federal service, Jeffrey A. Aalto of Escanaba, Michigan, retired from the Oscar G. Johnson VA Medical Center Dec. 31, 2022.
Jeffrey was born and raised in Rock, Michigan, and is the son of Howard and the Late Doris Aalto. He graduated from Mid Peninsula High School in 1980.
Jeffrey served in the Air Force from December 1981 to June 1992, and in the Air Force Reserves from July 1992 to August 1998, and started his VA career Aug. 12, 1989, at the Iron Mountain VA Medical Center.
Jeffrey worked in various areas during his tenure at Iron Mountain VAMC. He worked in Police Service as the primary evidence custodian, physical security officer and physical security specialist captain.
Jeffrey’s certifications include State of Texas Full Access Telecommunications Dispatcher, Operator of the National Crime Information System and Operator of the Texas Law Enforcement Crime Information System. He received employee of the month in January 2020.
Over the years, Jeffery has been actively involved with his community including being the ride captain of the Patriot Guard Riders, a member of the Christian Motorcyclists Association, a member of the Michigan Bikers Helping Veterans and as a volunteer with Feeding America.
