There’s been a fatal traffic crash in Luce County.
Michigan State Police say the call came in at just before 10:00 Sunday morning on M-28 near County Road 444 in Lakefield Township.
Troopers say that a 19-year-old Newberry man was traveling east on M-28 in a Ford F-250 truck when he crossed over the centerline and hit a Chrysler minivan head-on.
The driver of the minivan, 64-year-old Alice Nelson of Newberry, was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver pickup truck was treated for non-life-threatening injuries at Helen Newberry Joy Hospital and released.
Troopers believe that alcohol was a factor in the crash, but the investigation continues. The names of those involved have not been released.
