Christopher Hays McCormick 44, of Arnold, Michigan, was sentenced to 30 months to 7 1/2 years in the Michigan Department of Correction following the entry of a plea to Operating While Intoxicated, 3rd Offense, as a 2nd Habitual Offender.
A 2nd Habitual Offender Enhancement occurs when an offender has been convicted of at least one prior felony offense, and subjects the offender to one and half times the original penalty.
On August 14, 2021, deputies from Delta County Sheriff’s Office observed a vehicle without a registration plate. The driver was identified as McCormick.
Deputies observed an odor of intoxicants coming from McCormick and that his speech was slurred. McCormick refused dexterity tests and requested the PBT test. The PBT came back at .189% or over twice the legal limit. McCormick later conducted a Datamaster breath test and had a result of .14 and .15.
