Students at the Wausaukee School District recently watched a chainsaw carving demonstration by Lisa and Jamie Doeren of Renegade Carving Company. The business is located in Abrams, WI and they not only carve wood but also ice. The company has been commissioned to do work for Ralph Lauren, Disney and Tommy Hilfiger, among others.
The visit was funded by a grant from the Wausaukee School District Excellence in Education Fund held at the M&M Area Community Foundation (MMACF). The Fund was established at the MMACF in 2004 by members of the Wausaukee School District and the larger Wausaukee community. The purpose of the Fund is to support innovative projects and programs at the school.
“Exposing students to different careers is a crucial part of development in a student’s life,” said Jaime Wszelaki, Chair of the Wausaukee Excellence in Education Committee. “Our entire school community watched the chainsaw artists in action and were amazed by the skill they portrayed.”
After the demonstration, Lisa and Jamie talked with the K-12 students about their chosen careers. Renegade Carving Company also donated a finished piece to the school.
