One person died and another injured when a house exploded in the Copper Country on Tuesday.
This is updated information from the Houghton County Sherriff’s office. When responders got to the scene of the home explosion in Hancock Township, they found a man who was injured inside and rushed him to Keweenaw Aspirus Hospital. But they couldn’t find the man’s wife.
The Michigan State Fire Investigator was contacted, and arrived on scene to investigate the cause of the explosion and fire. A body of a woman consistent with the 64 year-old resident of the home was located and pronounced dead by the Houghton County Medical Death Investigator.
The name is being withheld pending autopsy and identification.
The cause of the explosion and fire is still under investigation.
