A Grand Traverse County man was mind-boggled when he saw his special set of Fantasy 5 numbers come up on TV and realized he’d won the game’s $325,211 jackpot.
The lucky 66-year-old player, who chose to remain anonymous, matched the Fantasy 5 numbers in the Sept. 23 drawing to win the big prize: 07-14-22-34-38. He bought his winning ticket at Shady Lane Market, located at 5981 South West Bay Shore Drive in Suttons Bay.
“I have been playing the same sets of numbers for a long time,” said the player. “I was watching TV one night and when I recognized the winning Fantasy 5 numbers that came up on the screen, I was mind-boggled. I ran to grab my ticket to double check it. After looking the ticket over, I went upstairs and had my girlfriend scan it on her Lottery app to make sure it was real!”
The player visited Lottery headquarters recently to claim the big prize. With his winnings, he plans to pay off his home and then save the remainder.
“Winning is an unbelievable feeling and still hasn’t fully sunk in yet,” the player said.
Each Fantasy 5 play is only $1. For an additional $1 per play, EZmatch may be added to a Fantasy 5 ticket, giving players a chance to win up to $500 instantly. For an additional $1 per play, Double Play may be added to a Fantasy 5 ticket, giving players a second chance to win up to $110,000 in the nightly Double Play drawing. Fantasy 5 players select five numbers from one to 39.
Players who match all five Fantasy 5 numbers drawn win a jackpot that starts at $100,000. Fantasy 5 drawings are held seven days a week at 7:29 p.m. Tickets may be purchased at a retailer or online at MichiganLottery.com until 7:08 p.m. on the day of the drawing.
