The Youth Advisory Committee (YAC) recently completed their first community service project of the school year. Students wrote personal holiday notes to residents at eight senior living facilities across Marinette and Menominee Counties. Students and YAC Lead Advisor, Madison McDonnell, will deliver the holiday cards in the coming week.
The Youth Advisory Committee is a youth-empowered committee working together to make an impact on our communities through volunteering, service and grantmaking.
The Youth Advisory Committee was formed in 1996 by the M&M Area Community Foundation. YAC members are students, ages 12 – 21, from schools across Marinette and Menominee Counties. Two members are also elected to the Board of Directors of the Community Foundation with full voting rights and responsibilities.
Each year YAC offers thousands of dollars in grants from the Foundation’s Youth Field of Interest Fund. These grants are awarded to non-profit organizations which support youth. Since its inception, the Fund has awarded $450,000 in grants throughout Marinette and Menominee Counties.
