The Bay College and LSSU Regional Chapter of Business Professionals of America annual “Warm Coats for Warm Hearts” campaign collected coats for those in need in Delta County.
This student driven campaign ran from Monday, November 21st, until Monday, December 5th.
With the communities outpouring support, BPA broke the clubs all-time record for donations ever donated to the campaign, with an astonishing amount of 352 donations received. Collection boxes were placed at Elmers, Pat’s Foods IGA, Ashley Furniture Homestore, 5 Corners Market, Culver’s, and Bay College.
“We set goals, worked hard, and with the community’s big heart, achieved an amazing goal. We want to thank the businesses who let us place our collection boxes, and our amazing community for their very generous contributions,” says Autumn Morgan, Bay College student pursuing an Associates in Social Science and BPA member.
On December 5th, BPA students banded together and worked until every donation was sorted. Then on December 6th, coats and other winter gear was distributed to Tri-County Safe Harbor, Salvation Army, and low-income families at Sand Hill Townhouses.
“We gave our time, talents, and treasures for this campaign, and that’s what BPA here at Bay College is trying to teach us. We learned about leadership, management, and improved our skills that we will be able to use for our future careers. As a social work major, I strive to help anyone in need, and this campaign was an amazing opportunity for me to take that step in the right direction. With the community’s support, we were able to help more people than we ever have in the past, it’s amazing being a part of this community,” says Morgan.
