There was a threat received in the Newberry Schools on Friday afternoon.
Tahquamenon Schools Superintendent Stacey Price says the threat was found in a bathroom in the K-thouigh-6 building at just after 12:00 noon. She says they followed their normal lockdown protocols in the elementary classrooms, with regular instruction going on behind locked doors.
Police in Newberry were able to quickly identify the student who left the threat, and the Shelter In Place protocol was lifted after being in effect for about 36 minutes. Now the student who allegedly left theĀ threat will be dealt with by the school board per its discipline procedures.
