Marquette Area Public Schools is hosting their 2023 District Spelling Bee.
While participating in the District Spelling Bee, MAPS appreciates that the Bee’s purpose is to help students improve their spelling, increase their vocabularies, learn concepts and develop correct English usage that will help them all their lives. This year thirty-three 5th – 8th grade students will compete on Tuesday, January 31, 2023, in the Shirley Smith Little Theater at Marquette Senior High School in the time honored tradition of a spelling competition.
This annual district level bee is the second round of competitions for MAPS students. It includes ten fifth grade students, eight students in eighth grade, seven students in seventh grade, and eight students in sixth grade who have already proven to be the best spellers in their classrooms and schools.
On behalf of our staff, MAPS values all of the families and friends that participate in each round every year as a spectator or study partner to support and witness the true journey of Spelling Bee competitors. Join us on Tuesday at 3:30 pm in rallying around our spellers, cheering in their victories and sympathizing in their defeat. Through it all, these spellers can teach and remind each of us in the community a lesson on true dedication, grit and resilience of the human spirit.
